I have a functioning ES2 development environment that I want to upgrade to ES4.  I am also moving to a new server (Windows 2008 R2 and SQL 2008 R2).

Currently, I'm running:

JBoss [EAP] 4.2.0.GA_CP01

MS SQL 2005

Java 1.6.0-14

I've read some docs, but am still confused.  I'm assuming out-of-place upgrade, but should I try to Upgrade from ES2 or just do a fresh install then copy GDS and database over?  Also, what configuration files can I copy over (if any)?

Any recommendations or links would be appreciated.

Hi,

I'm facing some problems trying configuring LiveCycle ES4 due to i'm not sure which user account role in SharePoint server and LDAP

(Microsoft Active Directory) I should use to connect from LiveCycle. Are there some special attributes and roles the user account of Sharepoint 2010 and LDAP should be configured?. I was searching for these issues but no luck so far.

Any recommendations or links would be appreciated.

Hi, I am an Active Directory administrator with a minimal knowledge of Adobe LiveCycle (sorry!)

Our Organisation has purchased a product that uses Adobe LiveCycle for user authentication and management and the third party company implementing it were responsible for synchronising LiveCycle with our Active Directory. We required the third party to provide resilience as the product is a crucial line-of-business application, which they did by configuring LiveCycle to synchronise against two of our Domain Controllers.

The two Domain Controllers are on seperate sites (which is good practice for resilience) but what it appears is happening is that LiveCycle is synchronising the users' details from the first Domain Controller (DC1), then overwriting it with the details from the second (DC2). As DC2 is in a seperate site, there is up to a 15 minute delay between a change being made to DC1 and that change being replicated to DC2.

What was happening in practice was that the administration staff were adding a user to the Active Directory group that grants access to the product, triggering a synchronisation of LiveCycle with Active Directory and the group membership was overwritten by the details on DC2.

Is there any way of configuring LiveCycle to have a list of Active Directory Domain Controllers which it will attempt to connect to in sequence until it finds one that will respond?

All messages are quite common and general but not the selected line. Google pointed me to that blog and I started to think that I made upgrade in a wrong way and the problem is in my database and I need to initialize it. I made it before but decided to re-run LCM again - still without any effects. I did that upgrade with the official upgrade guide help so I even don't know what's the reason can be and how to fix it. Surprisingly, we never attempted to configure a cluster and we are having a standalone single server environment.

I have tried various methods to deploy the adobe-livecycle-weblogic.ear file.

I followed the guide for installation, configuration of both weblogic AND Livecycle EXACTLY.

It will not deploy through the LCES4 configuration tool, in fact none of the others would either. I was able to deploy all the other ear files manually through weblogic admin page. This last one however will not deploy. Searching on Google has been totally useless.

Where can I download LCDS 2.5.1 for windows?  I can't find it anywhere as the search function is broken.

In the LiveCycle adminstration documentation, there are three different font directories listed.

Adobe Server Fonts Folder
This folder is always created wherever LiveCycle is installed (/opt/adobe/livecycle8/fonts/ or C:\Adobe\LiveCycle8\fonts\). Make sure that this folder's contents are copied to all of the horizontal cluster members.

Customer Fonts Folder
This folder is usually empty unless your documents or forms require special fonts. (What are the options here ?)

System Fonts Folder
Ensure that this folder (whose location is usually predictable for all LiveCycle-supported Operating Systems) is in the same location for all members of a horizontal cluster. In Windows, this is usually C:\Windows\Fonts\. On AIX, this is usually /usr/lpp/X11/lib/X11/fonts/

All Adobe fonts are OTF formats. If we wish to use other fonts that what is installed in the Adobe directory, what are our options ? Are there conversion utilities to use our existing TTF font files ? Is our only option to buy more fonts ? We have strict branding standards here we need to follow.

I have to use command lines for the configuration manager. I ran the command configureLiveCycle, with no error. I deployed the two .ear files given in /export, then i ran the command initializeLiveCycle.

Hi,

In one of our LiveCycle ES installs, we have on WebSphere App Server with an Oracle database, we see that the IDP_JMS_Bus stops every now and then. This of course interrupts the availability of the LCES web services to process client invocations.

When i look at the Messaging Engine(s) list in WAS Admin console for the app server, I see that its status has changed from the green arrow (STARTED) to the "gray circle with diagonal line across" icon indicating 'Unavailable' status.

Below is the recurring message that appears in the SystemOut.log from the Livecycle ES server.

Why does this happen? How to remedy this nuisance? is this a known JMS issue when Oracle is the databse?

We are in the process of installing ES2. After the installation gets over the configuration starts correctly, but gets the error 'ALC-TTN-104-002: Could not connect to bootstrap servlet, the requested URL was not found on the server' during the database initialization. Does anyone have a clue as to what causes this and solutions?

I made the mistake of letting our programmer get on my Livecycle server to do some work.  He changed a lot of server settings and since then JBoss will not start at all.  I try to start the service manually but it just starts and stops.

I initially installed LiveCycle using JBoss turnkey.

After reading some other forum posts I thought it might be that the trouble was that the programmer installed a newer version of the JDK to get it to work with his stuff.  So I uninstalled it and reinstalled JDK 1.5.0_22.  I then reset the Environment Variables etc, but it did not do any good.

I still can't start JBoss services.  I am hoping to avoid having to reinstall the entire thing because I don't want to loose all the months worth of work I've done already.  Does anyone have any ideas on what to do?

We have a LCES 8.2.1 install on a WebSphere App Server 6.1.x on a windows platform.

The database used is DB2.

Recently we have not been able to start the LiveCycle ES app server. We issue the startServer command and it remains in start in-progress indefinitely. The SystemOut shows the following error.

It looks like its trying to recover some old job info, but then threads hang and the server never start.

What may have caused this problem?

How can we clean the Job store or DB2 database, if that is the cause of the problem?

Is there some table(s) used by the IDPSchedulerService during startup that can be examined...and maybe be cleaned up?

Any help or pointers appreciated.

I'd like to appolgize in advance if my question is not clear enough.

I'm deploying the LiveCycle ES on WebSphere on a remote Linux server, connecting to Oracle 11g database and I can successfully access the LiveCycle console.

I'm facing a problem deploying the LiveCycle components (jar files), all files are successfully deployed except for (adobe-launchpad-assets.lca).

I get an error "failed to deploy LCA /opt/adobe/adobe_livecycle_es2/deploy/adobe-launchpad-assets.lca"

I also get another error for (adobe-auditworkflow-dsc.jar), saying that it is deployed but not running.

I tried solving the problem by restarting the application server and re-deploy the jar files, but no luck.

If there's anything else I should be providing, please just tell me what it is and how i can find it.
