Configuring SPNEGO SSO With AD

$

Can anyone answer a SPNEGO SSO question.
We have created a user in AD as described in SPNEGO SSO Active Directory Setup Guide (http://bofriis.dk/files/doc/spnego-activedirectory-configuration-.pdf). We have created the Keytab file using the KTPASS command. We then did the Configuring SPNEGO in the LiveCycle Admin Console as described in the Administering LiveCycle ES v 8.2 guide but we still can not seem to get SSO working. We have loaded LiveCycle ES 8.2 on a box running WebSphere.

This is the information in the log file.

Problem with Watched Folder endpoint

$

Hi,

We have a problem with a watched folder endpoint. The watched folder is set in a directory in a linux server. The directory then is mapped to a windows directory where files arrive from time to time. Everything works fine until the watched folder service stops for no particular reason. After that we need to restart the service from the admin UI console.

I found in another post something related to the MySql database losing connection with livecycle after some inactivity, but I'm not sure if this is our case or even how to solve the problem.

Here's what we found in the log

ALC-LCM-999-032 - LiveCycle ES3 Server - JBOSS_FOR_ADOBE_LIVECYCLE_ES3:Access is denied

Hi All,

I am doing the evaluation of Adobe LiveCycle against one of our requirements.

Requirement :  I need to create a dynamic PDF form with a barcode of type PDF417. Where a user can fill the form offline and after click on some button it will save the form offline and generate a barcode in the same PDF.

To acheive this I have downloaed trial version of LiveCycle Designer ES3, Reader Extension and LiverCycle Server ES3.

I have created a sample form with designer and after that to apply right usage on that PDF I am installing the server now.

I am installing the LiveCycle Server ES3 on my local machine with below configuration :

OS : Windows7(64 bit)

RAM : 8 GB

Processor : intel i5

I have downloaded Jboss server as application server and mysql.

To install LC ES3 Server I have changed UAC setting and User Account Control: Behavior of the elevation prompt for administrators in Admin Approval Mode as mentioned in document.

After thatto install the server I used turnkey option to install it. It installed the server successfully.

But now while running Configuration Manager I am getting below exception :

[2013-01-18 19:16:58,851], INFO, Thread-9, com.adobe.livecycle.lcm.feature.deployment.DeployEARsDialog, Progress: [59%, Starting service JBOSS_FOR_ADOBE_LIVECYCLE_ES3]

I tried many times but couldn't succeed.

Even I have removed my old settings for JAVA_HOME.

I tried this with many options like changing from express to custom, selecting few ears etc. but all results same.

Could any one please help me to resolve the issues ?

Thanks in advance.

ALC-WKS-007-027 after ES3 sp2 to ES4 upgrade

Hello,

I'm sorry for starting a new topic with a quite common problem but in my case it differs a bit from all of them that were asked on this forum before.

I'm testing an upgrade procedure from es3 to es4. First of all I installed sp2 and all worked very good at that point. After that I performed an in-place upgrade. All passed very well, but now I'm getting an ALC-WKS-007-027 error when I try to start a task which loads a form via Workspace. In server logs I see (I cut log a bit):

All messages are quite common and general but not the selected line. Google pointed me to that blog and I started to think that I made upgrade in a wrong way and the problem is in my database and I need to initialize it. I made it before but decided to re-run LCM again - still without any effects. I did that upgrade with the official upgrade guide help so I even don't know what's the reason can be and how to fix it. Any thoughts?

Data migration required for LiveCycle ES2 to ES4 upgrade?

Hi,

I'm working on planning a LiveCycle ES2 for JBoss to ES4 for JBoss upgrade where we are looking to install ES4 onto new hardware (Windows Server 2008 R2).

The plan is to install and configure ES2 as per the previous installation and then run the ES4 upgrade over the top.

We are looking at performing the installation on pre-production servers alongside the current production environment. The idea being that:

  • The application that consumes the LiveCycle services will continue to use the current production environment until a cutover to occurs, during which the consuming application will be pointed at the new environment.
  • The test version of the application that consumes the LiveCycle services will be pointed at the pre-production environment so that it can be properly tested by users over a period of time.

Below is some additional information on the current environment:

  • The only LiveCycle modules configured are as follows: (LiveCycle is simply used to create PDFs from various document formats e.g. Office, CAD packages)
    • PDF Generator
    • Reader Extensions ES
  • We currently have three production installations of LiveCycle, each with its own dedicated database
    • A load balancer is used to distribute requests to each server. Each server has no knowledge of the other two servers and effectively operate independently of each other.
  • Persistent Document Storage uses the GDS
    • Similar to the database configuration, the GDS is specific to each installation and is a local folder on the server
    • These folders range from about 5 - 75 MB in size and the most recently modified files are from 2009

My question is based on the current LiveCycle setup, is there any need to migrate the existing databases\GDS or can we simply create an empty database and use the Configuration Manager to create\update the appropriate tables? If a data migration is required, is this repeatable (i.e. we migrate once during a pre-production testing and then a second time during a production rollout)?

In addition, is it safe to re-run the Configuration Manager in order to point LiveCycle at a different database\database server?

Thanks in advance.

Turnkey option deactivated after unsuccessful instalation

Hi there!

After an unsuccessful install operation from a CD (install software crashed and hung), I restarted the operation from a folder.

However, when I get to the turnkey options screen, only partial turnkey and manual options are available; turnkey option is greyed out and there is an explanation saying MySQL is already installed. But it is not.

Please, how do I get the Full Turnkey option back?

Thank you very much for any ideas.

Regarding SQL Database Initialization

Hello All,

I had an existing working version of LiveCycle on Server A which had two drives; A.1 and A.2. Do to space constraints we decided to move the Adobe LiveCycle ES2 folder from drive A.1 to A.2. We had not created anything so we werent worried about loosing any data. When it was installed on to drive A.1 it was runnning on the default MYSQL database that is created when you install using jboss turnkey. . But now we want to connect our jboss application to a SQL server database. I went ahead and walked through the documentation in order create the database and users. I also made the modicications to the XML files within jboss. The problem I am having is when I try to run the LiveCycle ES2 Database Initialization in the Configuration Manager, I get the following error:

Are there other files that I need to configure in order to switch the application from the default MYSQL to the new SQL Database? And is there any way for me to test the connection to the database before I attempt to initialize it.

Thanks in advance.

hi,

I've a problem during the ConfigurationManager deploy.

"ALC-LCM-030-200 Failed to deploy component" is the message for ad example, adobe-output-dsc.jar.

My system configuration is:

WINDOWS SERVER 2003

JBOSS

MYSQL

It works on VMWare Player with 2 GB of RAM.

The run.bat configuration for JVM is

set JAVA_HEAP_ARGS=-XX:PermSize=128m -XX:MaxPermSize=192m Xms=1024m and Xmx=1024m

Any idea is appreciated ...

thanks in advance

How do I upgrade from ES2 to ES4?

$

I have a functioning ES2 development environment that I want to upgrade to ES4.  I am also moving to a new server (Windows 2008 R2 and SQL 2008 R2).

Currently, I'm running:

JBoss [EAP] 4.2.0.GA_CP01

MS SQL 2005

Java 1.6.0-14

I've read some docs, but am still confused.  I'm assuming out-of-place upgrade, but should I try to Upgrade from ES2 or just do a fresh install then copy GDS and database over?  Also, what configuration files can I copy over (if any)?

Any recommendations or links would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

The incident starts after all the members are removed from the DCS Stack DefaultCoreGroup view and added back again by WebSphere Application Server. Following exceptions are seen after LiveCycle was added back in again to the view.

We have a clustered environment with two nodes 2A and 2B. Server 2A crashed and therefore all members on 2B node were removed from the DCS view. Later the new core group view was installed but LiveCycle did resume operations as expected.

I have tried looking for the root cause about why LiveCycle was not able to resume normally, didn't find anything related.

Contact an administrator if this problem continues.

At this point we've been unable to reproduce the issue with any regularity.  In our environment we create a number of reports then protect them which are linked on an Intranet site.  From time to time a user will report the above error when trying to open the files.  After a period of time or closing all browser processes and adobe it will be able to open.

Could someone point me to some documentation on this or troubleshooting?  We are stuck with one particular support vendor who implemented and our experience with them has been challenging.

We're currently running Livecycle ES3 10.0.2 I've tried checking release notes to see if this is a known issue resolved in later version.  Has anyone seen this before?

Error trying to install Turnkey LiveCycle Server with JBoss

Hello,

I'm trying to install a trial of LiveCycle server 11.0.1 on my PC with Windows 7 Enterprise OS, 8GB RAM, 64 bit.  I've successfully done the installation plus the patch, but get the following error when trying to complete the configuration via Configuration Manager:

-----

"Failed on step Invoking component bootstrapper for task Bootstrapping PersistentObjectFramework

ALC-TTN-103-000: Bootstrapping request failed on server.  Message from server:

ALC-TTN-001-021: Bootstrapping failed for platform component[PersistenObjectFramework]. The wrapped exceptions message reads:

Check application server logs for details".."

-------

The error happens when the status of Configuration Manager is "Initializing the LiveCycle ES4 Database."  I should mention I'm using the "Express Mode" configuration.  Any help would be appreciated.  Thanks!

LiveCycle ES4 upgrade

I have a LiveCycle ES4 Server Turn-key installation (Win 2008 server, and Win SQL 2012), and I am planning an upgrade.  Is AEM 6.2 Forms JEE my best option?  Thank you,

MSSQL JDBC Driver 2.0 and 3.0 with LiveCycle ES 2.5 (ES2 SP2, 9.0.0.2,9.5,etc.)

$

The documentation for LiveCycle ES2.5 still indicates that the JDBC driver for MSSQL must be version 1.2. This version is no longer available for download from Microsoft. They only offer 2.x and 3.x on the download site. Are there issues with 2.x and 3.x compatibility with LiveCycle installations?

is the Global Document Storage a new thing in Update-1 ?

the install guide says to allocate 10-Gig for it, will it grow bigger than 10G?
